NH CRNA Spotlight of the Month

August Spotlight – Jonathan C. Bailey, MSN, CRNA

Jonathan is a dedicated nurse anesthetist who is driven to improve the lives of patients, families, and clinicians. In his current role, Jonathan is a CRNA at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH where he provides multigenerational care for a variety of surgical specialties.

Jonathan began his journey in healthcare working as a patient care associate on an orthopedic surgical unit at Newton Wellesley Hospital in Massachusetts, where his interest was sparked to pursue a career in nurse anesthesia. He received his BSN from Worcester State University where he was awarded the Army Nurse Corps, Spirit of Nursing Award. After graduating, Jonathan’s goal oriented nature inspired him to perform a nurse residency program in critical care at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma. He continued his critical care journeys at UMass Medical Center and Milford Regional Medical Center prior to embarking upon becoming a CRNA. He received his master’s degree from Northeastern University where he was also presented the Faculty Excellence Award, which embodies the student who consistently displays the highest level of leadership and professionalism along with an excellence in both academic and clinical performance.

Most recently, Jonathan was awarded the CRNA Excellence in Teaching Award from Dartmouth-Hitchcock. His commitment fosters an environment of growth, collaboration, and innovation. Jonathan is a lifelong learner who consistently seeks to expand his knowledge and stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in medical science. He continuously builds interdisciplinary relationships to excel departmental missions and the field of anesthesia. His dedication to professional development has led him to fulfill varying roles within the anesthesia department including acting as the anesthesia pharmacy liaison, precepting students, managing equipment, and participating in research.

When Jonathan is not working at the hospital, he enjoys spending time with his niece and nephews. This often entails paddle boarding out on the lake, heading out for a bike ride, or taking a hike on a new trail.

Jonathan believes that true leadership is rooted in empathy, integrity, and a commitment to serving others. It is a dynamic and multifaceted journey that requires self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and a commitment to the betterment of both the organization and the individuals within it.

Jonathan’s unwavering willingness to support his coworkers and patients alike makes him an exceptional asset to our team.

Early mornings and late nights are not just part of his routine, but a testament to his commitment. Jonathan’s availability knows no bounds – he’s merely a phone call away whenever assistance is needed. His dedication to both his profession and the people around him goes beyond the ordinary, making him a cornerstone of our group and an invaluable contributor to the CRNA field.
